Love is in full court for former NBA star Jason Collins, who has officially tied the knot with his longtime partner, film producer Brunson Green.

The couple exchanged vows in a romantic outdoor ceremony in Austin, Texas, surrounded by close friends, family, and a few fabulous celebrity guests.
Collins, who made history in 2013 as the first openly gay active NBA player, shared his happiness in a series of adorable Instagram Stories, including a heartfelt snapshot of the pair holding hands during the ceremony.
Guests captured touching moments and congratulated the newlyweds with captions like “Congrats to two of my favourites,” and “And just like that, they’re married.”

The celebration was a long time coming.
The couple confirmed their relationship back in 2014 in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, and they reportedly got engaged at the Los Angeles Lakers Pride Night in 2023.
In a 2023 interview with Sports Illustrated, Collins revealed that he first met Green at a housewarming party while he was still dating someone else.

They didn’t reconnect until three months later, when they ran into each other again at another party, and the rest, as they say, is history.
Green, who is best known for producing the Oscar-winning film The Help, was joined by Octavia Spencer—a star of the film—who attended the wedding as a guest.

Also present was Richard Jefferson, former NBA teammate of Collins and longtime friend.
Adding a fabulous queer flourish, Texas-based drag queens Nadine Hughes and Alysha Pretty performed at the rehearsal dinner, with a now-legendary rendition of A Whole New World from Disney’s Aladdin.

Collins has spoken openly about the challenges of coming out during his career, calling the experience liberating and transformative.
“There’s a stress that you walk around with constantly when you’re in the closet,” he said in the same Sports Illustrated interview.
“When I came out, it was like I’d ripped off a Band-Aid. There was so much support from fans and teammates, so many new friends that I made, and I thought, why didn’t I do this sooner?”
From teammates on the court to partners in life, Jason Collins and Brunson Green have proven that love always wins, especially when celebrated with authenticity, pride, and just the right touch of sparkle.
