Troye Sivan’s New Love Song Is for a Man He Doesn’t Know Yet

Troye Sivan promised his gayest music video yet. With FF, he has also offered something tender: a love song addressed to a man he hopes to find.

The video arrived October 9 alongside his fourth studio album, She’s the Best. Filmed on Fire Island and directed by longtime collaborator Gordon von Steiner, it places an imagined relationship against beaches and the intimacy of a beach house.

Actor Felix Mayr plays Sivan’s love interest. Their on-screen romance gives a face to the feeling behind the song, without making the video a revelation about Sivan’s private relationship status.

In a statement shared by Universal Music, Sivan describes FF as a love song for someone he does not know yet—or, he adds, does not think he knows.

That small qualification leaves the future open. The song expresses hope for a relationship rather than a promise to an existing partner.

There is a particular loneliness in that idea. You can picture the closeness, the shared routines and the feeling of having someone beside you, while having no idea when that person will arrive.

It is a feeling many listeners will recognize, whether they are young, starting over or simply still waiting for a relationship that feels right.

Fire Island gives the imagined romance a meaningful setting. Its communities, including Cherry Grove and the Pines, have long offered LGBTQ+ people places to gather, express themselves and find connection.

Here, that backdrop holds both desire and the possibility of a life together. The physical attraction catches your attention; the wish for lasting closeness gives it another dimension.

The album’s wider visual world includes Nicole Kidman in the title-track video and Ian McKellen’s opening narration for Party. Lily-Rose Depp features on its closing track, Lost Time.

FF brings the focus back to an intimate hope: finding a man to love, and imagining what being together could feel like.

For a singer known for confident expressions of gay desire, admitting that longing is its own kind of openness. Sometimes the person you most want to sing to is still someone you are waiting to meet.
