Danny Ramirez Praises His Chemistry With Pedro Pascal in Gay Romance De Noche

Danny Ramirez has given audiences another reason to look forward to De Noche, the upcoming gay romantic drama in which he stars opposite Pedro Pascal.

Speaking to Variety at the Academy Museum Gala, the actor described Pascal as “the easiest person ever to have chemistry with”.

His comments offered a warm glimpse of the experience behind their on-screen relationship.

A Collaboration He Appreciated

Ramirez’s praise extended beyond his fellow leading man.

He spoke enthusiastically about working under director Todd Haynes, the strength of the screenplay and the combination of people bringing it to life.

He described the experience as one he wished could be repeated across other films.

That is an encouraging perspective on a project whose appeal depends in part on audiences believing in the relationship at its centre.

The comments concern the actors’ professional chemistry while portraying lovers.

Two Men Drawn Together in Dangerous Times

The story places their characters in 1930s Los Angeles, against a backdrop of corruption and the looming threat of war.

According to mk2 Films’ official synopsis, Pascal plays LAPD officer Richard Rent, while Ramirez portrays boarding-school teacher Joe Thomas.

The two become targets of the city’s corrupt political machine and flee to Mexico.

There, along the country’s Pacific coast, an affair develops, challenging the men’s understanding of themselves and the lives they have left behind.

It is a premise that puts a gay relationship inside a larger story of danger, escape and personal discovery.

For viewers drawn to romances in which intimacy requires vulnerability, that offers plenty to anticipate alongside the appeal of its two stars.

A Long Road to the Screen

De Noche reached production after a difficult earlier setback.

Pascal joined following Joaquin Phoenix’s departure from the project, with Variety confirming his casting and the film’s financing in February 2026.

Haynes wrote the screenplay with Jon Raymond, and the producers include Christine Vachon and Pamela Koffler of Killer Films.

Filming has since finished, but a release date has not yet been confirmed.

The finished film will ultimately show how the partnership translates to the screen.

For now, Ramirez’s affection for the work offers a welcome update: the actor remembers a talented scene partner, a director with a clear vision and a collaboration he valued.

That sounds like a promising foundation for a love story.
