Out ‘Monsters’ Actor Cooper Koch Dissed for His ‘Gay Voice’

Oh, honey, grab your popcorn and settle in because Cooper Koch is spilling the tea! Our favorite out-and-proud star of Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story may be the name on everyone’s lips right now, but trust, it wasn’t always this glamorous.

Cooper, 28, is currently headlining one of Netflix’s biggest shows of the month, but this glow-up was hard-earned—and paved with more than a little sass and resilience.

Picture this: back in 2022, Koch found himself deep in the trenches of auditions, casting calls, and acting classes, like any rising star trying to break through the Hollywood haze.

He had the looks, the talent, the charisma—but one thing kept holding him back.

According to Koch himself, in a jaw-dropping interview with Edge Media Network, an acting teacher once straight-up told him he wasn’t booking gigs because of his “gay voice.”

Excuse me?! Yes, you read that right. In a moment that can only be described as peak audacity, the unnamed teacher asked him why he thought he wasn’t landing roles despite auditioning like a man possessed.

When Koch admitted he wasn’t sure (isn’t that why we take classes in the first place?), the teacher replied with, “Well, you have a gay voice.”

Imagine someone saying that to you in 2024, let alone 2022. The nerve! But Cooper, being the cool cucumber he is, has learned to brush off this kind of nonsense.

He later revealed that he had even been fired from a pilot for similar reasons, but, as he told Edge, he’s developed a “thick skin” over the years after dealing with bullies from his childhood.

Now, he knows how to walk away when folks try to dim his shine. And in true boss mode, he added, “If you’re gonna have that kind of opinion, or you’re not gonna want to work with me because my voice sounds a certain way or because I walk or talk or move my hands in a certain way, then I don’t want to work with you either, babe.”

Yasss, queen, preach it! Koch’s resilience is something we’ve all gotta love. And it’s not just about his voice or how he carries himself.

Koch’s story hits home for many in our LGBTQ+ community who’ve had to contend with the same nonsense—being judged, criticized, or “othered” for simply being themselves.

What makes this story feel like tea between friends is that, at some point, we’ve all dealt with this brand of backhanded rejection, haven’t we?

Of course, it seems that Hollywood is finally catching on. Koch’s career has taken a 180-degree turn from those discouraging days.

He’s now starring in Ryan Murphy’s controversial true-crime adaptation Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story, portraying Erik Menendez opposite Nicholas Chavez, who plays his brother Lyle.

The show, as expected with anything Murphy touches, is drama-packed and, unsurprisingly, topping Netflix charts worldwide.

But it wouldn’t be a Ryan Murphy production without some controversy! Monsters has faced accusations of sexualizing the Menendez brothers, with certain scenes showing the siblings kissing and appearing nude around each other.

While the real-life story of the Menendez brothers is already chilling—two sons convicted of first-degree murder for killing their parents—the show doesn’t shy away from dramatizing the intense, complicated relationship between them.

Whether it crosses a line or is simply pushing boundaries like most of Murphy’s work is up for debate, but one thing is clear: Cooper Koch’s performance is leaving audiences shook.

Before landing his starring role in Monsters, Koch was no stranger to the spotlight within the LGBTQ+ genre.

Horror fans probably remember him from They/Them, a slasher film set at a gay conversion camp, or Swallowed, another queer horror flick.

While these projects helped him build his reputation, Koch has made it clear he’s not here to be pigeonholed. “There [are] a lot of roles I go out for that don’t identify as gay, and I don’t only wanna play queer roles,” he’s said.

It’s a feeling so many LGBTQ+ actors can relate to. While there’s absolutely nothing wrong with playing queer characters (and we love seeing our stories represented), Koch is determined to show Hollywood that he has range.

🌟 Fun Fact: 🌟

Before his breakout role in *Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story*, Cooper Koch starred in the critically acclaimed queer horror film Swallowed (2022), which earned praise for blending body horror with LGBTQ+ themes, showcasing his versatility and commitment to diverse storytelling.

And with Monsters continuing to dominate the Netflix charts, it’s clear that Cooper Koch’s gay voice isn’t holding him back anymore—in fact, it might just be propelling him straight to the top.

So what’s next for Koch? With his current momentum and a fan base that adores him, he’s clearly on track to become one of Hollywood’s most versatile stars.

Whether he’s taking on queer roles, straight roles, or anything in between, we’ll be watching and cheering him on every step of the way.

Who Is Teen and His Mysterious Boyfriend in Agatha All Along?

Post may include paid ad links

Hey, babes, if you’ve been spellbound by Agatha All Along (because, let’s be honest, who hasn’t?), you’re not alone.

Two episodes in, and we’re already cooking up some major theories about Joe Locke’s mysteriously charming character, “Teen” – though we’ve yet to even get a proper name out of him.

What’s the deal with this kid who can’t seem to reveal his true identity?

The tea is piping hot, so grab a cup and let’s dive into the magical madness swirling around Marvel’s newest enigma.

Instagram: @joelocke03

Meet Teen—Or Should We Say, Billy?

So, here’s where it all gets juicy. Joe Locke (yes, the dreamy star from Heartstopper, your favorite Netflix queer rom-com) plays Teen, Agatha Harkness’ little pet project.

Now, we love how Agatha, played by the divine Kathryn Hahn, throws around that nickname, but it’s clear there’s more to this boy than meets the eye.

Every time he tries to spill his name, it’s like the universe hits the mute button. Suspicious much?

Fans are going wild with theories, but the biggest one, and honestly the one that makes our queer hearts flutter the most, is that Teen might actually be Billy Kaplan—aka Wiccan, son of none other than Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen) and Vision (Paul Bettany).

If you’ve been keeping up with the MCU, you’ll remember that Billy’s first appearance was in WandaVision as Wanda’s magically conjured son.

And while things didn’t end super great for Billy and his twin Tommy (because, you know, multiverse drama), it seems like our boy might be making a return in Agatha All Along.

He’s always had some serious magical chops, so it makes sense that Agatha’s keeping him close. But can you imagine?

Agatha mentoring Wanda’s son—the witch she hates most? That’s some Grade-A drama right there!

Instagram: @joelocke03

And Who’s the Boyfriend?

Let’s talk about the blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moment from Episode 2 when we catch a glimpse of Teen’s boyfriend.

The fandom has been buzzing over this, and for good reason. Miles Gutierrez-Riley, who some of you might recognize from The Wilds, pops up as Teen’s boo, though we only see him through a quick phone call that Teen awkwardly brushes off.

His name in Teen’s phone? “Boyf.” (Swoon! 💕)

Instagram: @MilesGutierrezRiley

But here’s where it gets really interesting—rumors have been flying about whether Gutierrez-Riley’s character could be Hulkling, another queer superhero from the comics who just so happens to be Wiccan’s boyfriend.

In the comics, Hulkling (aka Teddy Altman) is a Kree-Skrull hybrid who falls in love with Billy, and together they’re basically the most powerful gay couple in the Marvel universe.

A match made in queer comic heaven, if you ask me!

+Related: Joe Locke Opens up About His New Gay Role in ‘Agatha’

However, some sources (looking at you, Grace Randolph) have been saying that Gutierrez-Riley isn’t stepping into Hulkling’s big green shoes—at least, not yet.

But hey, this is Marvel, so who knows what twists are coming.

Maybe the showrunners are saving this big reveal for later, or maybe it’s all a misdirect.

Either way, I’m so here for any queer love stories Marvel decides to gift us with.

Can you imagine the sparks that would fly between Locke’s Wiccan and Gutierrez-Riley’s Hulkling?

Talk about a magical power couple!

💖 Fun Fact 💖

Did you know Kathryn Hahn, who plays the iconic Agatha Harkness, is a fierce LGBTQ+ ally? Not only does she play the sassy, fan-favorite witch in Agatha All Along, but she also voiced a gay character in the animated series Central Park! She’s all about supporting queer representation, and we *love* seeing her in a show that’s bringing more LGBTQ+ magic to the Marvel Universe! 🏳️‍🌈✨

Agatha and the Witches’ Coven

Let’s not forget Agatha’s central role in all this.

She’s clearly collecting a crew for some grand plan, and Teen is part of her coven now. Whether he’s actually Billy or some other magical newbie, we know one thing for sure:

Agatha has plans. The spell that stops Teen from revealing his identity? Total Agatha move.

But the real question is, why? If Teen is Billy, does Agatha know that she’s training the son of her nemesis?

And what’s going to happen when Wanda finds out? Because you know Wanda’s not the type to let things slide, especially where her kids are concerned.

Witchy Love and Queer Power

Let’s be real, loves, Marvel’s been doing a decent job upping its queer game lately, and with Joe Locke and Miles Gutierrez-Riley potentially becoming the MCU’s next iconic gay couple, we’re definitely in for a treat.

I’m keeping my fingers crossed for more love scenes, more magic, and more backstory on these two cuties.

And if Teen does turn out to be Wiccan, well, that just adds another layer of drama to the already thick plot.

Whether Agatha knows she’s mentoring her arch-rival’s kid or whether Teen finds out about his magical legacy, we’re going to be in for some serious fireworks by the end of this series.

Until then, keep your crystal balls polished and your tarot cards handy, because the mystery of who Teen really is—and who his boyfriend might be—will continue to unfold in delicious ways.

You can count on me, babes, to keep you updated every step of the way!

Cheyenne Jackson and Jason Landau just hit a major milestone, celebrating a full decade of love, life, and all the beautiful chaos that comes with marriage.

On Instagram, Jackson shared a heartfelt post with a photo reel, soundtracked by Billie Eilish’s “Birds of a Feather,” where he gushed, “Happy ten year wedding anniversary baby. You still make my knees weak.”

We’re swooning right there with you, Cheyenne!

Among the photos was one of the couple dressed up as Batman and Catwoman, reminding us all that they can rock Halloween costumes just as effortlessly as they’ve rocked this marriage.

The love story between Jackson, 49, and Landau, 47, is the stuff of modern fairy tales.

They met at a 12-step meeting back in 2013 and have been inseparable ever since, with Cheyenne sharing how they “got sober together” and later built a family.

Just a year into dating, the two were engaged and by September 2014, they were walking down the aisle in Encino, California under a chuppah (a nod to Landau’s Jewish heritage).

Since then, they’ve welcomed twins, Ethan and Willow, and have embraced family life—often sharing their experiences with holidays like Hanukkah.

Not one to let his husband steal all the thunder, Jason posted his own tribute, reflecting on the highs and lows they’ve faced: from the grief of losing their fathers to the joys of raising their twins.

He didn’t hold back on the romance either, adding, “You kiss me and I still get weak,” and calling Cheyenne his “beautiful, powerful, and delicious husband.”

Talk about relationship goals!

Instagram: @jasonrlandau

Jackson, who you might know from Glee or 30 Rock, and Landau, who’s dabbled in acting and now runs a merchandise company, have always kept it real about the challenges they’ve faced.

But through it all, they continue to inspire not just their fans, but the LGBTQ+ community at large with their honest and beautiful commitment to each other.

From their first meeting to their 10-year wedding anniversary, these two have been giving us all the feels .

So, here’s to Cheyenne and Jason—still making each other weak in the knees, and making all of us a little bit more hopeful that love like theirs truly does exist. 💋

Jacob Elordi & Diego Calva’s Steamy Hotel Room Prep for On Swift Horses

Post may include affiliate links, which may earn us a commission

Gather ’round, because we’ve got some juicy tidbits to share about Jacob Elordi and Diego Calva’s latest film that’s lighting up the screens and setting our queer hearts aflutter.

Their upcoming movie On Swift Horses premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) earlier this month, and let’s just say… this isn’t The Kissing Booth Jacob Elordi anymore.

Oh no, babes, this is next-level sexy, raw, and unapologetically queer.

Set in the 1950s, the film is an adaptation of Shannon Pufahl’s novel and centers on a blossoming, secretive romance between Julius (played by Elordi) and Henry (Calva).

Julius, a Las Vegas casino worker, meets Henry, a hustler with an agenda, and the two are drawn into an intense, passionate love affair.

Of course, given the era, this means plenty of sneaking around and living on the edge – the perfect breeding ground for some steamy on-screen chemistry.

And steamy it will be. Vanity Fair recently dropped a bombshell about how Elordi and Calva prepped for the film.

According to Elordi, the two holed up in a motel room for a full week of “intensive prep.”

Now, if you’re already clutching your pearls, thinking about the heat they must have generated in that cramped little room, same.

Dan [Minahan, the director] gave us a lot of freedom to run around and to play and to find that love within those four walls,” Jacob explained to Vanity Fair.

Just imagining these two hunky actors discovering their characters’ love for each other in a dimly lit, old-school motel, makes us feel like we’re right there with them, sipping rosé and waiting for the magic to unfold.

But really, On Swift Horses isn’t just about the physical chemistry (though, yes, we’re very excited for those “explicit love scenes” Vanity Fair hinted at).

It’s a film that digs deep into what it was like to be queer in the 1950s, a time when many LGBTQ+ people were forced to live in the shadows.

As Elordi put it, this is a “sprawling, epic, nongeneric love story,” one that taps into universal themes of love, fear, and self-acceptance.

Director Daniel Minahan – who’s given us LGBTQ+ gems like Halston and Fellow Travelers – is behind the camera, making sure this love story gets told with the tenderness and nuance it deserves.

Minahan’s work is always a deep dive into identity, often blurring the lines between truth and fiction.

And honey, if there’s anyone who knows how to bring out the gay drama and the gay glamour, it’s him.

Instagram: @JacobElordi

There’s no denying that Elordi and Calva’s sizzling chemistry is going to be the talk of the town, especially with reviews already praising how the film portrays queerness in a time when being openly gay could have dire consequences.

The movie not only provides those much-needed sexy moments but also focuses on the terror of being seen and the thrill of trying to live authentically.

Daisy Edgar-Jones, who plays the film’s leading lady, Muriel, has been quick to describe On Swift Horses as a “wonderfully queer” experience – a bold, fresh take on the period piece, and we are so ready for it.

Instagram: @DiegoCalva

If you’re not already sold (but, let’s be real, you probably are), Jacob Elordi assures us that this isn’t just another cookie-cutter love story. It’s one for the ages, and it hits right where it matters.

The characters may be trapped in their circumstances, but the love they share transcends time, fear, and society’s expectations.

The film’s been met with glowing reviews, and if early buzz is anything to go by, it’s set to be a hit once it gets its wider release (mark your calendars!).

So, grab your popcorn and your besties because On Swift Horses is galloping straight into our hearts—and it’s bringing a sexy, queer romance for the ages with it.

Let’s just say, we’ll be first in line, ready to ride.

From Bravo to ‘I Do’: Rodrigo Reyes Proposes to Tyler Dugas

Post may include affiliate links, which may earn us a commission

Well, darlings, it’s official—one of our favorite Bravo boys, Southern Charm’s Rodrigo Reyes, is off the market!

After nine years of relationship bliss, Reyes finally popped the question to his partner, Tyler Dugas, in one of the most jaw-droppingly romantic places on Earth: Santorini, Greece.

Yes, hunny, Santorini. We’re talking sunsets, whitewashed cliffs, and cocktails for days!

Instagram: @tsdugey

In a chat with People on Sept. 17, Reyes spilled all the delicious details of the proposal, which, quite frankly, gives us all major vacation (and love!) envy.

The couple had jetted off to Greece with friends to celebrate Rodrigo’s milestone 40th birthday, but little did Tyler know, the real surprise was tucked away in a friend’s purse—a golden ring ready to make their long-lasting love official.

Instagram: @tsdugey

Rodrigo’s proposal was more than just a beautiful setting.

Picture this: A private sunset moment at a cocktail bar—not just any cocktail bar, babes, but the No. 1 cocktail bar in all of Europe (because naturally, when you’re Rodrigo Reyes, you have connections like that).

With a golden sky as their backdrop, Rodrigo asked the question we’ve all been waiting for, and Tyler’s response? Pure gold. “Sure, let’s do it,” he said with the kind of casual charm that makes you swoon, but the moment quickly turned into an emotional whirlwind when it hit him.

Rodrigo joked that Tyler never actually said yes amidst all the happy tears that followed, but we think the answer is pretty clear now!

If you’ve followed Rodrigo on Southern Charm, you know he’s got an eye for style and detail (I mean, that interior design game is strong!).

So, of course, when it came to picking the perfect engagement ring, Rodrigo chose a timeless, solid gold band. “I’m a traditional gay Southern boy,” he said, keeping it classic but chic.

Honestly, that’s the kind of southern gent elegance we love!

Instagram: @tsdugey

For those of us who’ve been following Rodrigo and Tyler’s journey, this engagement feels like the next chapter in their love story. Tyler Dugas, who Rodrigo couldn’t gush enough about, sounds like an absolute gem himself.

From how Reyes describes him, Tyler is basically the kind of boyfriend every gay boy dreams about—selfless, sweet, and always putting others before himself.

And it’s that generosity of spirit that has made their love stand the test of time.

But as for the wedding? Well, they’ve got some planning to do!

As Rodrigo said, with both of their large Southern families (because you know no gay Southern wedding is small), and all the fabulous friends in their lives, figuring out the guest list is going to be a situation.

Will they go all out with a big, glamorous event? Or maybe an elopement with an epic party to follow?

Either way, we’re on the edge of our seats waiting for those wedding deets.

For now, though, we’re just raising a glass (preferably something with bubbles) to Rodrigo and Tyler, whose love has been nine years in the making and shows no signs of stopping.

I don’t know about you, but this proposal gives me all the feels.

A love that’s been through the ups and downs of reality TV, survived the drama, and found its forever?

That’s the real Southern charm, honey.
