He’s married to Brandon Flynn.
Rapture is Jordan Tannahill’s feature directorial debut. The film is set at a Cistercian monastery in Yorkshire in 1348, as the Black Death arrives.
At the centre of the story is a deep, passionate relationship between two young monks who have grown up together. Tannahill has described the project as queer body horror.
The cast includes Heartstopper’s Kit Connor, Elite’s Manu Ríos and Will Poulter. Filming is expected to begin in October 2026.
The film has been circulating for more than a year, so the new hook is not the casting itself. It is the production update — and the delightful discovery that Tannahill is married to Brandon Flynn, known for 13 Reasons Why.
The couple married in New York in October 2024, after meeting during rehearsals for Tannahill’s play Prince Faggot.
But Tannahill deserves to be known for more than his husband. He is an established queer playwright and writer-director whose work explores identity, power and desire.
That makes Rapture especially intriguing: a medieval plague story, a love story between two men and a queer filmmaker bringing the whole strange, sexy, terrifying world to the screen.
Apparently one hottie universe simply wasn’t enough.
