Recently, Archuleta took to Instagram to address the backlash he faced for attending these events, explaining how they have become a crucial part of his personal growth and self-acceptance journey.
Archuleta, now 33, shared a detailed comment emphasizing that while EDM festivals can be loud and stimulating, they are also liberating and therapeutic. “It’s an expression of being free and going all out for a moment before going back to everyday normal life,” he wrote. He revealed the intense internal conflict he faced trying to conform to the church’s teachings, which led to severe anxiety and a life-or-death crisis. Ultimately, Archuleta found peace by accepting his queer identity and stepping back from religious pressures that demanded he change who he was. His family, especially his mother, has been supportive of his decisions, making his journey less isolating .
Archuleta writes: “You’re welcome to the journey to follow along but you’re also welcome to choose not to and that’s ok,” he concluded. “We like to surround ourselves with what we relate to and I know what I do isn’t as relatable to many of you as before vs more relatable for others of you now following me. Regardless I hope each and everyone of you can live your best life and find what makes you feel happy, understood, accepted and true to you. I’m enjoying my process and journey of that myself. 🫶🏼”
