Fans who fell in love with Scott Hunter and Kip Grady have another reason to be excited about Heated Rivalry season two.
François Arnaud has confirmed that the fan-favorite couple will have a larger presence when the hit hockey romance returns.
“There’s definitely more of Scott and Kip,” Arnaud told WWD.
The actor stopped short of revealing specific plot details but made it clear that viewers have not seen the end of the couple’s story.
Scott and Kip were introduced as supporting characters during the first season.
Scott is one of the league’s biggest hockey stars, while Kip works as a barista.
Their relationship quickly became one of the series’ most talked-about storylines.
Unlike many LGBTQ+ television romances, Scott and Kip’s story gradually shifted away from secrecy and fear toward openness and hope.
Their emotional high point came when Scott publicly acknowledged Kip after winning the league’s MVP award before later kissing him on the ice in front of thousands of fans.
Those scenes became some of the most widely shared moments from the series.
Arnaud told WWP that he enjoys playing a relationship which has already overcome many of its biggest obstacles.
Instead of focusing only on coming out, he believes the writers now have the opportunity to explore what happens after that milestone.
That approach reflects one of the reasons Heated Rivalry has resonated so strongly with LGBTQ+ audiences.
The series certainly includes conflict, but it also allows queer couples to experience happiness, humour and ordinary relationship challenges.
Showrunner Jacob Tierney has previously spoken about wanting queer stories that are not defined exclusively by trauma.
Season two will primarily adapt Rachel Reid’s novel The Long Game, continuing Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov’s love story.
At the same time, fans have been hoping Scott and Kip would receive additional screen time after becoming breakout favorites during the first season.
Arnaud’s latest comments strongly suggest those hopes will become reality.
Filming for season two is now beginning in Toronto, with a spring 2027 release expected.
For viewers who finished season one wanting just a little more Scott and Kip, the message from François Arnaud could hardly have been clearer.
There is definitely more to come.
