Allen Lim was reading a checklist during a private flight over Malibu when he discovered that his fiancé had something very personal planned.
Pilot Joe Frank had tucked a marriage proposal into the instructions.
The August 15 surprise, reported by People via SWNS, ended with an emotional Allen accepting a ring.
There was already another proposal in their story
Allen had proposed to Joe on July 24, in front of friends and family, according to the date Allen shared in his own post.
That means the two were already engaged when they took the flight.
Weeks after Allen asked Joe to marry him, Joe had prepared his own way of asking Allen.
Both men got to plan a surprise, and both got to experience being on the receiving end.
A different setting for the same commitment
One proposal brought their loved ones together.
The other unfolded in a small plane above Malibu, with a checklist carrying a question Allen would remember long after the flight.
Knowing that a wedding is ahead does not take away the pleasure of being asked.
There is still the surprise of discovering what your partner has planned, and the emotion of hearing them choose you in their own way.
For Joe and Allen, those moments now belong to both of them.
