Andy Cohen’s Son Had the Sweetest Reaction to His Relationship With Kevin Sobieski

When Andy Cohen told his son that Kevin Sobieski was his boyfriend, the response was everything the gay dad had hoped for.

Ben was already fond of Kevin — and happy his father had found someone to love.

“You’ve wanted a boyfriend, and now you have one,” the seven-year-old said, according to Cohen’s recollection.

Cohen shared the conversation during an appearance on Carlos King’s Reality with the King podcast, explaining how he approached telling Ben and his four-year-old daughter, Lucy, about the relationship.

Getting to Know Kevin First

The couple had been dating for eight months before explaining to the children that they were boyfriends.

That did not mean Kevin was a stranger to them.

“I really let them fall in love with him, and they did before I ever said anything,” Cohen explained.

As the podcast transcript records, Cohen told Ben first.

His son responded by telling him how much he and Lucy loved Kevin, before acknowledging that his dad loved him too.

For Cohen, the conversation was deeply reassuring.

He described it as everything he would have wanted it to be.

Ben Had Already Tried Matchmaking

Finding his father a boyfriend was apparently something Ben had considered before Kevin entered the picture.

Cohen recalled his son asking over the preceding few years why he did not have one.

He would explain that he had not met the right man.

Ben had suggestions, including Cohen’s longtime friend, singer John Mayer.

When that idea went nowhere, he also proposed his dad’s best friend, Bruce.

Cohen had to explain that Bruce was married.

The exchange adds a funny, affectionate detail to the story: a child who wanted his father to find companionship and was perfectly willing to help with the search.

A Calm, Confident Kind of Love

Cohen, 58, also reflected on what makes his relationship with Sobieski feel different.

He described a mature love shaped by fatherhood, greater self-knowledge and feeling more settled in his life.

“It’s very centered, it’s very calm and I’m very sure of it,” he said.

The couple met at a Fourth of July party in the Hamptons in 2025 and kept their relationship private for nearly a year before Cohen discussed it publicly in June 2026.

His separate comments at Bravo Fan Fest on October 24, covered by Attitude, offered another warm update about watching his children’s relationship with Kevin develop.

But the podcast conversation supplies the most touching detail: Ben’s simple happiness that his dad had found the boyfriend he wanted.

For parents navigating dating and family life, that kind of acceptance can mean an enormous amount.

Andy found someone he loves, and his children had already found someone they loved having around.
