“Emmy nominee Jonathan Bailey” – doesn’t that just have a lovely ring to it?

Our dear friend Jonathan, who we’ve all adored in Bridgerton and are eagerly waiting to see in Wicked, has just snagged his first-ever Emmy nomination.

Can you believe it? Jonathan’s mesmerizing portrayal of Tim Laughlin in Fellow Travelers has landed him a well-deserved nod for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited Series.

But Jonathan isn’t celebrating alone. Our buddy Matt Bomer, who co-stars with him, also received a nomination for Lead Actor, and the talented Ron Nyswaner, the show’s creator, got a nod for his brilliant writing.

It feels like a triumph for the entire Fellow Travelers family!

Jonathan took to Instagram to share his joy with us, using those adorable milk emojis that remind us of Tim’s unforgettable milk-drinking scene.

“Playing Tim Laughlin was the experience of a lifetime, and I will carry him with me always,” Jonathan wrote.

“For this experience to be recognized in this way, and alongside ultimate leader @mattbomer and the brilliant @ronnyswaner is truly beyond measure.”

Jonathan’s heartfelt message continued, touching on something we all feel deeply about.

“It is not lost on me that this sort of recognition is rare. I’ve grown up savoring the minimal queer television and film on offer whilst battling problematic media and societal criticism of queer life,” he shared.

“I have loved so many award-winning dramatic performances of gay characters but for Matt and I to be nominated together as gay actors feels like the sort of progress that would have made the world an easier place to grow up in. For that, I am grateful and so unbelievably proud.”

He didn’t forget to acknowledge everyone who made this moment possible.

“This nomination represents the work of so many. It’s shared with Ron, Matt, Noah, Jelani, Allison, @showtime, @paramountplus and the entire @fellowtravelerssho creative family. And of course, with Tim and all the other angels who fought before us,” Jonathan concluded.

As we mark our calendars for the 76th annual Primetime Emmys on Sunday, September 15, we’re all rooting for Jonathan, Matt, and the whole Fellow Travelers gang.

No matter what happens, Jonathan’s nomination is a proud moment for us all, shining brightly for queer representation in television.
