In some heartwarming news from across the pond, our favorite MP, Luke Pollard, has just tied the knot!
Luke, the openly gay Labour MP for Plymouth Sutton and Devonport, recently shared the joyous update on social media.
On September 1st, he posted on X (formerly Twitter) that he married his longtime partner, Sydney, a few weeks ago at the enchanting Port Eliot estate in Cornwall.
For those who might not know, Port Eliot is a stunning historic site, adding a fairytale touch to what was clearly a very intimate and emotional ceremony.
Luke’s words in his post were both poignant and powerful: “Sydney is my rock, and I’m a very happy man that I get to call him my husband.
When I was growing up, it was illegal for two men to marry. We have come a long way. Love wins.”
Luke’s relationship with Sydney has been a visible part of his life and career.
Sydney, who is a contemporary dancer, has stood by Luke’s side through thick and thin, including some challenging moments when they both faced homophobic and racist abuse on social media.
Yet, despite the hate, their love has remained a beautiful and resilient force.

For those of us in the LGBTQ+ community, Luke’s journey is a reflection of the progress we’ve made.
He’s not just a politician; he’s a testament to what it means to live authentically and love openly in a world that hasn’t always made it easy.
Their wedding isn’t just a personal milestone but also a symbol of the strides we’ve made together, and the continued journey ahead.
It’s wonderful to see Luke, someone who has been so active and vocal in fighting for LGBTQ+ rights, find his own happiness.
Let’s raise a glass to the happy couple, Luke and Sydney—love really does win!
