Republicans Fume as Biden Honors Transgender Day 










March 31, also known as the Transgender Day of Visibility (TDOV), turned out to be a hot topic this year, owing to an unintentional coincidence. The occasion, which annually falls on March 31, this year coincided with Easter Sunday, leading to some political hullabaloo.





The TDOV, initiated in 2009, serves as an important day of recognition, aiming to highlight the accomplishments of transgender and gender-nonconforming people while raising awareness around their rights. But when President Joe Biden, in all his inclusive glory, chose to honor the day even though it fell on the same date as Easter Sunday, Republicans were quick to voice their disapproval.





The criticism failed to overshadow the significance of the day, however. For those in the dark, the TDOV is not a rebooted Easter event, but simply a notable occasion that happened to align with the religious holiday. Love was certainly still in the air, even with the political bickering.

In his life and career, Joe Biden has remained a steadfast ally of the LGBTQ+ community. His work has been consistent towards advancing equal rights, respect, and acceptance – including the landmark move of demanding safety and equality for transgender people, a first in the presidential inaugural speech history. 





As a gay writer, I can’t help but appreciate the President’s stand, asserting the visibility and importance of transgender people in society. The criticism only seems to highlight the pervasive issue of misunderstanding and misrepresentation within certain politics. Now more than ever, it reminds us of the importance to rally together in support of love, inclusivity, and equality. 





Let’s remember: whoever we love, however we identify, we all deserve to feel validated, seen, and respected. Transgender Day of Visibility might have been on an egg-centric day this year, but its message was loud and clear: visibility shouldn’t and wouldn’t be dampened by chance.

Australian DJ and producer Dan Slater was out and about this weekend, living it up in Palm Springs at the white party. Known for his funky house sound and infectious energy, Slater is adored by fans around the world. He recently shared a series of toned, sun-kissed shirtless photos of himself in full party mode on Instagram, showcasing his charismatic persona and vibrant nightlife. 





Slater, a former dancer, has gained significant recognition since transitioning to the DJ decks. With a knack for blending progressive European sounds with the Latino fire of South America, Slater has an impressive repertoire ranging from house to tech and deep house. 





Earlier this week, he DJ’ed at the Mantamar gay beach club in Puerto Vallarta, where he engaged in some shirtless fun, as depicted in his Instagram posts. Slater shared his gratitude to Mantamar’s team, expressing how he looks forward to returning in April. 





Starting his DJ career as the Sydney Mardi Gras DJ Spin-Off Competition winner, Slater’s relentless passion and dedication have led him to perform at some of the most renowned festivals and clubs globally. These include the Winter Party Festival, White Party, Circuit Festival, XLSIOR Mykonos, and Sydney World Pride, among others.
