Lance Bass—who once crooned “Bye Bye Bye” with *NSYNC—initially thought he’d be saying exactly that to now-husband Michael Turchin.
But fate (and a fabulous Super Bowl weekend) had other plans.
When these two first crossed paths at a friend’s birthday bash in sunny Palm Springs, Lance assumed Michael just wasn’t that into him.
There were no immediate fireworks like in his previous relationships, Lance told E! News in a recent interview.
Instead, they spent a few months in that dreaded friend zone, chatting on the phone from opposite coasts—Lance in New York and Michael in Los Angeles—while Lance convinced himself he was “too old” for the Miami-born artist.

The setting was a Super Bowl gathering in Texas. The mood was a cozy couch, a little wine, and a whole lot of curiosity.
