Elton John Launches ‘Speak Up Sing Out’ to Empower LGBTQ+  










Elton John has once again taken a powerful stand for the LGBTQ+ community with his newly launched “Speak Up Sing Out” campaign, unveiled just in time for Pride Month. This initiative, PEOPLE writes, aims to combat LGBTQ+ discrimination and promote acceptance and joy, especially crucial amid the rising tide of anti-LGBTQ+ legislation globally.





The campaign is part of the broader efforts of The Rocket Fund, an initiative of the Elton John AIDS Foundation (EJAF) that was launched in 2023. The Rocket Fund focuses on tackling HIV-related stigma and ensuring accessible, LGBTQ+ friendly HIV care and services. It is fueled by a $125 million fund aimed at ending AIDS by 2030.

In his announcement, Elton John encouraged individuals to participate by sharing their renditions of the final verse of his iconic song “Your Song.” Participants are asked to honor someone who has supported them in their journey of self-acceptance by tagging them and using the hashtag #SpeakUpSingOutGiveaway on social media. One lucky participant will even get the chance to meet Elton John and his husband, David Furnish, in New York City during Pride Month .

This campaign comes at a critical time, following the introduction of over 500 anti-LGBTQ+ laws in the U.S. in 2023 alone. These discriminatory measures have highlighted the urgent need for solidarity and action within and beyond the LGBTQ+ community.
